What's
New
Proposed Renovation &
Restoration
The renovation of the
building would entail first,
attaining funding to have an
architectural engineer
assess the feasibility of
the changes we would like to
make. This step would also
include research on
returning the building to
the design of the era in
which it was built. Because
the building was an
ice-plant we would point out
that to return it to its’
original industrial design
would not support its’ use
as a Museum.
We foresee the changes to
include the deconstruction
of interior non-bearing
walls; the relocation of the
bath and kitchen utilities
to the area that is now used
as storage; upgrading all
the wiring and plumbing; the
removal of the ceiling;
appropriate flooring and
window replacement and any
necessary upgrades or
changes needed to the HVAC
system. These renovations
would solve safety issues,
ADA compliance shortcomings
and a need for more space at
the Museum building.
We hope to seek funding for
all of these steps through
grants for Historical
preservation and renovation
as well as any other grants
sources whose requirements
we meet.
